Well, I tried.
The new computer always presented problems. The DELL guys tried to fix it using remote assistance, and nothing. The most they could do was to maximize the Intel video card (onboard), but the ATI (offboard) remained not responding. The guys from DELL came and changed my main board with the video boards, and now my whole computer SUCKS! It has been restarting out of the blue, the video presents several problems constantly, lots of error messages pop up, the computer freezes, sometimes it doesn't turn on, and it didn't even recognized the power source once (so far... it happened about 30 minutes ago). So yes, DELL SUCKS and if you are considering buying one, DON'T! They have a stupid rule that if a part of the computer isn't working you have 30 days to complain, but after that, they wash their hands. Now if the user break, let the computer fall or pour liquids on it, then it's all fine, because they replace the damaged piece. How awesome is that? So fuck you Dell! Fuck your ridiculous assistance, your fucking "total care" (total my ass), fuck your screwed up products! They prolly put used boards in my new computer. Some that they retrieved from another customer and "fixed". Seriously, there is no other explanation.
I can say fuck you as much as I want to, because this computer has been fucking with my patience since September. So yeah, consider this as a payback for all the time, effort, and sleepless hours trying to fix your cheap products. IF YOU ARE GOING TO ADD TWO VIDEO CARDS, PLEASE DO IT RIGHT! IF A CUSTOMER COMPLAINS IT IS NOT WORKING, PLEASE FIX IT INSTEAD OF SCREWING IT MORE!
I hate DELL right now! HATE it!
Anyways, I'm done.
I'm gonna blog all items I received in the last ten days and that's it. I'm not making any drama, and I'm not an attention-whore. I just like to share with friends, and right now I need to vent. I'm just letting you know that my "new" computer sucks and I can't make pictures, and also that I'm facing lots of problems in RL and I just can't spend hours trying to take a snapshot, and get all pissed off because of the stupid computer.
So I'm gonna focus on RL now on. I'm not leaving SL, although I'm always AFK - have always been and always will lol! So if I don't reply, please drop a notecard, because this computer is rebooting every now and then, and chances are that I'm gonna miss your IM.
I'll keep blogging till Christmas. Thank you all for your support. Thank you designers and readers! Thank you for all the friends I made, and all great people I met. I hope meet more great people inworld.
I'll resign around Christmas, but don't worry, I'll send a goodbye note to all designers, owners of blogger groups, and readers. But not today. I'm too busy cussing.
P.S.: Apparently Dell is gonna run some more tests then replace the boards AGAIN! So whichever end this story gets, I'm fed up with all of it. I don't care, and I'm not changing my mind. Dell still SUCKS. BIG TIME!

SOOOOO -- I have had my own computer drama (not DELL and in the final analysis not the computer that I purchased problem but some bad RAM (so much for upgrading to 16) that completely messed up Windows. All seems (knocking on wood) OK now.
BUT, long ago and far away I had an issue with DELL. I had another machine after that that ran for four years flawlessly so not necessarily a DELL per se thing).
Anyway, my DVD drive kept frying like enough smoke to make my office unusable. After they sent a new one like four or five times (honestly) and the installer tech had paid for the big beams in the house he was working on (we are talking big bucks here) I got on the phone again --- to In-di-a at that time. They were going to send out yet another replacement. Yada yada.
I told them fairly forcefully to LOOK AT THE LOG and see that they had already paid well over the cost of the computer NOT fixing the problem but going over the same steps. The tech guy actually looked (gasp) and recalled my computer. The new one worked for a long time. So, if you can get someone that actually THINKS, you may have a chance.
I definitely understand your frustration though. Hopefully it will eventually work and you can come back. And, to be fair, I have as bad or worse stories for HP so I suspect that "things just happen". Agreed that support is often lacking.

Yea fuck those crappy hardware these days. I had quite a new not even 1 year old and the freaken hard disk already start making nice. And my graphic card always hang and whilst doing things half way it's all gone and I need to restart. Fuck those crappy dodgy manufacturer!

I'm sorry to hear that you had even worse issues than I have... In your case they should have gave you a new computer sooner than... well at least sooner than the India call lol
I had HPs before and they never gave me any headache, but as you have pointed out by sharing that you had dell ones that didn't show any problem, maybe I just had bad luck... The problem is that this was my first Dell, and the image I had from the company before was that Dell was super great, and now they not only didn't solve my problem, but got my computer completely messed up. Even if it was the case of formating it... Please, if you buy something it is implied that you can use it in its full capacity without having to call assistance to update bios, format the harddisk, etc etc etc... My computer is being formated now and my bf is positive that it will help and the cmputer won't reboot out of the blue anymore, and hopefully other issues will disappear too. Noone can say why it was displaying the message error about not finding the power source... But let's wait and see, and keep cussing...

OMG milo!I'm trully sorry about that! But you are so right! Things are crappy and cheap... If not they wouldn't display problems so often! I trully don't rebember old pieces being so problematic...
